Send a Burden
A burden I would steadfast bear
And watch Your faithful plan supply
But easy is my given path
Perhaps, I scarcely need my guide.
Chain fetters on me and dismiss
Need not be gentle on this boy
O God, you know me better than this
Yet still I’m lifted on wings of joy
Let me fight through these weeds
Dig myself out, let me toil.
Just give what is coming my way to me.
Yet each day I’m planted in new soil
Why O Lord,
When justice cuts to bone,
You send me not to noose nor sword
But invite me to your throne.
