It was dark outside and the rain was flushing down hard on the world. That’s why I crawled into my bed right next to the big window and opened it. Weather like this makes me feel so small and it does something to reset and settle my soul. The bigness of it. The mystery is huge and lovely.
But this little thin black box sat on the pillow next to me. I pushed the button on it and was pulled into its bright square, which gave me quick solutions for my immediate impulses of curiosity, boredom, and self worth.
And I recognized the stark difference between immediate pleasures and enduring peace.
